This morning was free to explore Split at leisure, including an opportunity to enjoy our beachfront location. So after breakfast we made a late start - 10.00am! - & drove into the historic city center.
The rest of the morning & lunchtime was free to enjoy Split - many travelers headed into the city's 'Green Market' to shop for everything from snowglobes & dice to t-shirts, hats, etc. Some took a Game of Thrones walking tour, & others headed uphill to view the city & waterfront from a distance. Many of us made sure we were in the central Peristyle 'square' at 12 noon to see the Emperor Diocletian appear!
After lunch we departed from Split for the afternoon drive north & east, at times running along the coast & at other times inland & out of sight of the Adriatic. After a while the landscape began to change noticeably, becoming greener & more lush, with rolling hills & then craggy mountains.
We arrived at our overnight stop, Pension Sedra, in the late afternoon, in time to settle in before a hearty dinner in the neighboring restaurant, a pleasant change of scene & pace to our time in the coastal cities.
