What a fantastic day! Visiting the Dalmatian Islands of Palmizana (Pakleni Islands), Hvar & Brac by private speed boats!
The day dawned warm but overcast. At our arranged meeting time of 9:00am we were driven the short distance to the harbor, met our boat crews, & boarded our two high speed boats. Soon we were speeding out into the Adriatic to our first destination, the island of Hvar & it's 'capital' Hvar Town. On the waterfront we met our local guide & took a one hour tour of the town, learning about its history, culture, architecture, etc before having free time for lunch.
From Hvar it was just a short 10 minute ride across to the island of Palmizana, one of the Pakleni - or Devil - Islands. Sadly it was now quite overcast so we took just a little over an hour to enjoy this tiny island - plenty of time those brave enough to swim in the so-called Blue Lagoon & for others to enjoy the view or a drink.
A longer ride took us to the neighboring island of Brac next, en-route viewing the wind & kite surfers off the famous beach of Zlatni Rat before cruising into Bol for an hour+ stop.
The ride back to Split this afternoon was an adrenaline-charged rollercoaster - bumpy, windswept, & exciting - a memorable experience for sure. Our captains stopped at one point to show us a World War II-era submarine hideout carved into the cliffs!
Back in Split we time to freshen-up that regrouped for a pizza dinner by the beach followed by gelato.
